PoEWit Technologies has released the MD-2 first standalone PoE-powered and cloud-configured indoor motion and light sensor. The MD-2 boasts a long list of customizable settings — from motion sensitivity and light threshold to trigger duration and even schedule-setting — all managed within PoEWit’s free mobile app, available for iOS and Android.
With its discreet, wall-recessed design, the sensor can be placed in any room to automatically turn on lights when motion is detected. Users control which light(s) the sensor will turn on, for what duration, and at what luminosity via the PoEWit app. Unlike other motion and light sensors, the MD-2 can be configured to operate on a schedule, triggering lights at predefined intensity levels during specific timeframes.
“Let’s say a homeowner wishes for their bathroom lights to turn on at full brightness during the day but prefers softer lighting in the evening to create a night-light effect. The MD-2 is the only indoor motion sensor that can operate with such specificity. It can even be set to ignore motion during certain hours, if desired,” says Victor Pak, co-CEO of PoEWit.
PoEWit also offers an outdoor version of their dual motion and light sensor, the MD-1. Both products are available in PoEWit’s online store.
