Yamaha is unveiling the latest updates to its line of home-theater-in-a-box packages with the introduction of the YHT-4950U and YHT-5950U home theater systems. With the most recent in 4K video and dynamic audio capabilities, the YHT-4950U and YHT-5950U each include five speakers — right, left and center in front, plus right and left in the rear — a powered subwoofer, and speaker wire to connect them to the AV receiver. Both systems support for full 4K Ultra HD with HDR10 (high dynamic range) and Dolby Vision, and are Bluetooth-enabled.
The YHT-5950U includes Yamaha MusicCast technology. This built-in functionality allows music lovers to access the most popular music-streaming services over WiFi — including Spotify, Apple Music via AirPlay 2, Pandora, SiriusXM Internet Radio, TIDAL, Deezer, Napster, and Qobuz — all controlled by the free MusicCast app. MusicCast also provides the ability to listen to your favorite tunes throughout the home by connecting additional MusicCast wireless speakers and devices to your home Wi-Fi network.
In addition to featuring the latest streaming services, the YHT-5950U also supports voice control from Siri, Google, or Alexa. Apple AirPlay 2 support adds the ability to stream Apple Music and other streaming services from an iPhone, iPad, HomePod, and Mac to multiple Yamaha devices and other AirPlay 2-enabled speakers. Voice control via Amazon Alexa and Google is available through connected devices.
The MusicCast capabilities of the YHT-5950U also support the MusicCast Surround feature, providing system owners the option to replace the included wired rear speakers with wireless MusicCast 20 speakers to create a 5.1-channel setup with wireless rear surrounds.
The new Yamaha home theater systems will be available in early July at the following MSRPs:
- YHT-4950U ($499.95 MSRP)
- YHT-5950U ($599.95 MSRP)
