Sonos has introduced the Era 100 Pro at CEDIA Expo 2024 booth #3508. Designed specifically for light commercial and residential use, this speaker will be available exclusively through Sonos professional partners. Unlike speakers in the company’s consumer line, the Era 100 Pro has special features that meet the needs of professional systems integrators, including Power over Ethernet (PoE) for quicker installation and an optional secondary safety attachment. A professional-grade surface mount (sold separately) allows for more flexible installation options.
The Era 100 Pro also includes software that allows users to create zones for easier control of multiple speakers and custom setups for larger areas. In the U.S., system integrators can leverage Era 100 Pro installations with Sonos Pro, a software solution that allows business-owning clients to remotely monitor and manage their Sonos systems, stream commercially licensed music, and receive personalized support. The Era 100 Pro and Era 100 Pro Surface Mounts will be available globally in early 2025.
New Search API
Sonos has also announced a new search API that improves compatibility with third-party control systems, making music streaming easier than ever. With this upgrade, users can now group and search their music from multiple streaming services by category on touchscreens from top manufacturers such as Control4, Crestron, RTI, Nice, and URC, with additional partners joining in early 2025. This simplifies navigation and accelerates access to favorite content from popular music services. The search API also allows Sonos music to be synchronized with lighting, shades, and other systems, creating an immersive experience tailored to users’ lifestyles. These integrated scenes can be applied across all touchpoints of the compatible control system, ensuring easy access and control of Sonos music throughout the home.
Sonos Architectural Speakers
Sonos is presenting its line of architectural speakers, which are designed for installation in high-end residential settings. At CEDIA Expo, systems integrators can explore the Sonos In-Ceiling, In-Wall, and Outdoor speakers, each tailored for various applications. The In-Ceiling speakers deliver a wide soundstage, making them ideal for ambient music in open areas. For home theaters or multi-room setups, the In-Wall speakers offer immersive audio experiences with crisp, clear sound that enhances on-screen action. The Outdoor speakers are weather-resistant, ensuring powerful sound in challenging conditions, perfect for patios, gardens, and other exterior spaces.
When paired with Sonos Amp, these speakers integrate seamlessly with the Sonos system, enabling control through the Sonos app and leading third-party control systems. Amp also enables digital signal processing and overdrive protection, optimizing sound quality across the frequency range. Additionally, Amp supports Trueplay for the In-Ceiling and In-Wall speakers.
