Legrand Releases Alexa Voice Control for Lighting Systems Legrand’s radiant RF (radio frequency) Lighting Control and adorne Wi-Fi Ready Lighting systems now work with Amazon Alexa. By RS Staff Published: June 28, 2017 ⋅ Updated: April 15, 2019 Legrand’s radiant RF (radio frequency) Lighting Control and adorne Wi-Fi Ready Lighting systems now work with Amazon Alexa. Legrand’s adorne and radiant Collections offer homeowners a comprehensive selection of wall plates, dimmers and switches, scene controllers, plug-in modules, and outlets. The collections enable integrators to offer a wide range of diverse functionality and design to fit every customer’s project and budget. Owners of these systems and Amazon Alexa-enabled devices can now power and dim lights simply by saying phrases like, “Alexa, dim the living room lights 25 percent,” or “Alexa, turn on the kitchen light.” Using the Groups function within the Alexa app, users can also easily control multiple lights with a single command. “Amazon Alexa is immensely popular, so we are pleased to make our radiant RF Lighting Control and adorne Wi-Fi Ready Lighting systems compatible with this platform,” said Fritz Werder, VP and general manager of Legrand’s On-Q and Nuvo lines. “This is another example of how we are living up to our commitment to offer customers the ability to connect with our products simply and in any way that suits their lifestyles and preferences.” This announcement further supports Legrand’s recent launch of its Eliot (Electricity + IoT) program in North America. Eliot is a global Legrand IoT program that brings together the company’s worldwide expertise to advance connectivity and intelligence in the built environment, mobilize Legrand’s capabilities around the world, speed development of Legrand connected devices, and amplify communications wherever the Internet of Things can enhance value for all users. The integration of these Legrand lighting systems with Amazon Alexa is powered by Samsung ARTIK Cloud, and requires a Legrand LC7001 Whole House Lighting Controller and an integrated Samsung ARTIK Cloud account. To enable voice control of Legrand smart lighting with an Amazon Alexa-enabled device, users will enable the “Samsung ARTIK Cloud Optimized for Smart Home” skill in the Amazon Alexa app. Once selected, they will be presented with instructions to complete the integration. The radiant RF Lighting Control and adorne Wi-Fi Ready Lighting systems’ dimmers employ Legrand’s Tru-Universal technology so they can be used with all lighting and load types, including LEDs, incandescent, halogen, and others. The LC7001 Whole House Lighting Controller enables users to turn lights off and on immediately or to set them on automatic schedule from their smartphone, tablet, or Apple Watch, as well as from their Amazon Alexa-enabled device. The control app is designed for convenience, including individual light naming and the ability to schedule individual lights or scenes by time of day.
